The pool is ready! The boards are ready!
Join the City and Dual Meet Champion Dive Team - Greenwyche Gator Dive!!
No previous experience necessary - we are looking for some gators who love to dive, or would like to learn! Dancers/Gymnasts are great divers!
First practice is Tuesday 10 or 11am, May 31st. We need everyone here this first week, if possible.
We have 3 awesome coaches this year, Coleman Martinson (head), Garret Taylor(asst) and Walton Rogers (asst).
Greenwyche Dive Team - 2016 Schedule
June 6 - Away at Sherwood (vs Sherwood & Whitesburg) - warm up at 5
June 13 - HOME vs Camelot (please plan on being here - their team is big!)
June 20 - Away at Byrd Springs (vs BS and Piedmont)
June 27 - Home “individual meet”
July 7 - CITY MEET - open to 2 divers per age group/gender
Weekly practices 10-11, and 11-12 window to allow for kids coming over after swim. We plan on having “fun day” on Thursdays when Swim does, but we will not have fun day the first Thursday, due to limited days to practice before first meet.
This is an unusual schedule due to a short season. Our dual meets may be a bit longer this year because most of them have us competing against 2 teams at each meet. The kids will dive like it is a normal meet so they probably won’t notice a difference:).
*Our first home meet is versus Camelot, our biggest competition, so please plan on being there! The last meet is not a dual meet, but we need everyone there.
WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Please let Janye or Karla know what you can do - working the table is very easy and fun (and you know the results before everyone else! :) Jobs include judging, copying down scores, ribbons, announcing, and a team sweet snack (cookie cake, cookies, cupcakes).
Judge Training is next Thursday, June 2, at 7pm at Piedmont. PLEASE let me know if you would be willing to help with this. We have to have judges in order to have a meet. This is easy and short.
City is July 7, and we will have a Dive Banquet immediately following at the pool, and we need a volunteer(s) to handle this. It is simple, and brief, to get folks home early if they swim the next day.
Our Gator Dive team experience has always been known as being laid-back, very fun, and is an all around special experience. Please don’t hesitate to come “try” dive team our first week. Our coaches are prepared this year for more technical coaching and more FUN!!
Please email or call me if you are interested or have questions. I will have registration forms and concussion forms at practice. Dues are $40. I plan on having info sheets at practice for parents that may better explain what the requirements are for age groups, and how things are scored (I found this very helpful).
Can’t wait to see you all at the Diving Well at The Swamp!!
